Kaysee Cooper, MS, LMFT

Kaysee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT#134746) and Director at OC Counseling, operating out of our Tustin and Mission Viejo offices, as well as offering virtual sessions via telehealth.  Kaysee earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California.  Kaysee grew up in Southern California, the home of a very competitive and prestigious athletic environment, which allowed her to find both her aspiration and ability to cope with life using the gift and environment of athletics.  Through multiple life altering events, being an athlete was what brought consistency, identity, and community to Kaysee.  Following a career ending injury, Kaysee reframed and refocused her passion by helping herself, and later others, through her academic work in psychology and furthermore through her work within the UCLA sports psychology lab.  Coupling personal and professional experience, Kaysee learned to develop insight on the relationship between performance and passion, even within the face of suffering and setback.  Following pursuing higher education, Kaysee has had experience working in the substance abuse field, in-patient and out-patient mental health, with collegiate and professional athletes, and is currently working with teens, individuals, couples, and families in private practice focusing on each client's individualized experience to identify and meet their diverse and specified needs.  Kaysee has worked with leadership in the university setting to advocate for mental health resulting in making progress in bridging the gap between mental health resources and more resistant populations, including student-athletes.  Throughout these settings, Kaysee has been able to sit with and experience her clients and has sought to merge the gap between suffering and solution, injury and insight, knowing and doing.  Kaysee provides education and support in the local community speaking at events and groups which have included the topics of social media/screen use, anxiety, depression, ADHD, performance anxiety, and sports psychology.  Kaysee operates from an eclectic and solution focused experience seeking to meet each client where they are by examining their past, experiencing them in the present, and collaborating on the potentials of the future.  Kaysee believes in the power of restoration through developing and prioritizing an authentic connection with each of her clients in which they can experience vulnerability met with compassion, understanding, and even a little fun!
